Jump shots take time to set up, but if you pull one off you get a stack load of Inferno Points.
1. Hold L1 + Up on LS (raise cue angle to maximum)
2. Press R1 to switch to top down for a better view
3. Repeatedly tap back on the right stick to charge the power, the aiming aid will show the ball jumping over in an arc
4. Lock the power by holding down R2
5. Quickly release and re-hold R2 to adjust the power or adjust the cue angle until you're satisfied
6. Line it up and press up on the right stick while still holding R2 - the ball will jump exactly as indicated by the aiming aid
Note: The Cue ball must jump directly over at least one ball before striking another ball into a pocket to record a successful jump shot. Now sit back and watch the Inferno points roll in!
Multiplier
Skill shots are great, but don't underestimate the multiplier. If you can thread together enough pots without missing, your Inferno points will keep rolling in. Once you get to your second Inferno mode without missing you can stay in it forever. Or at least until you make a mistake!
Make the most of mistakes
If you scratch you wipe your Inferno points, lose your multiplier and lose your aiming aid for a few seconds - ouch! However you can make the best of a bad situation by picking up the Cue ball with L3, and placing it anywhere on the table. Why not look for an easy combo or even a jump shot to recover those Inferno points?
Minimise Mistakes - Lock your Power
Don't smash every shot - the Cue ball will fly off in an unpredictable direction. Use R2 to lock the power before taking the shot, this means the Cue ball will behave exactly as the white aiming aid suggests, so you can be sure it won't go in a pocket. If you need to, quickly use the D-pad to adjust the rebound of the Cue ball before locking.
Top Down Kicks
Is there a ball near a pocket? Don't just knock it in, press R1 to switch to top down view and line up an easy kick shot (white off a cushion then strike object ball in) for some extra points - just be careful the white doesn't follow it in!
Nominations
Instinct is to fire your balls at the person who is winning, and this can often be the best tactic. However in a long game of Inferno Pool, it's easy for a third player to make a comeback from a few balls down and you can find yourself fighting a war on two fronts as the timer ticks down. Why not try targeting the loser early on with an onslaught of balls which makes a comeback very difficult, then you can concentrate on attacking fewer remaining enemies.
The Quick-fire
When you have a full Ballzooka and you want to unleash it on somebody, you don't have to hold down the corresponding face button until it is empy and waste valuable time. Simply tap the face button to nominate your victim and press L3 to shrink the Ballzooka and unload all the stored balls at once.
